Every nursery app tells you when you have broken ratio. miaHQ builds the rota that does not — Fill with Mia staffs each room to its EYFS ratio for the ages actually booked in, then flags any room it could not cover. Ratios, built into the rota
Every room legal by the time you publish
- miaHQ knows each child’s EYFS age band from their date of birth, and each room’s statutory ratio (1:3 under-twos, 1:5 twos, 1:8 over-threes in England — and the figures for the other UK nations).
- Press Fill with Mia and the open shifts fill room by room around availability and contracted hours, so no room drops below ratio — it never moves anyone already placed.
- The daily register drives it: mark a child absent and that room’s required staffing follows, so the ratio is real, not the roll.
- Any room it could not cover is flagged plainly — a shortfall to fix, never a rota that ships already illegal.
The records inspectors ask for

- A tap-in, tap-out daily register per room, with allergies and emergency contacts on every child’s record.
- DBS, paediatric first aid and safeguarding training tracked with renewal dates in view before they lapse — surfaced where they belong, never as a red badge on a dashboard.
- Medicines are given against parental consent on file, each dose signed and timed; accidents and safeguarding concerns are logged confidentially and land straight in a manager’s notifications.
